The source of my inspiration!

My mother deserves blog post after blog post! She is truly the most caring loving person! I am honored to be her daughter, to receive her love! This picture of her holding my Lylia when she was not very old, has always lingered in my heart. This picture somehow expresses my dearest most tender love for my mom. My mother years ago when I was very young allowed me to sew on the sewing machine she first learned on. It was a white and orange sewing machine and it was smaller than a normal one. I was also allowed to use my mom's unlimited supply (LOL) of ugly fabrics. I started making barbie clothes. Then I tried making a skirt and a dress, and my love of sewing grew from there. When ever I could do a school project sewing came into mind. My mom was a great teacher. I think sewing will always be a tender thing to me because it came from my mother! Truly the things that matter in life are not the material things, but the people around you and the lessons you learn. So my mother is truly the source of my inspiration. I often would find her late at night sewing or with a bag at a doctor's office that had a sewing project in it. Our home was filled with quilts that we could snuggle in when we watched movies. It was not uncommon that immediately when we would come into the living room as a family, everyone fought over which quilt they would snuggle in. This love of quilts has always remained with me! The house was decorated with different quilts for each season. One with flowers, one with pumpkins, one with Christmas trees, one with the American Flag. I think my love of everything probably sourced from a quilt my mother made. She decorates her house with quilts and it feels like home! I guess that is why I loved when I saw this article in a quilt magazine my mom got me a subscription to.

See how everything has a quilt! When I saw this I dreamed that this was my house! I am slowly working towards making that a reality!

I decided that after a lot of inspiration to make table runners to go on top of these beautiful book shelves! So I decided to go through old magazines I had and get some more inspiration for some blocks!

  1. Thanks for the talk today. I have to say I'm impressed that you have a workbook! And I think your house is well on its way to looking like that magazine. I love the inspiration photos you picked because they look so warm and inviting and cozy yet not too over the top country. I also thought of a gift that I want to give you someday because of this post, so I'll have to be on the watch out these next few months. :)
