So my projects of late are to finish a Book of Mormon Chart where we are going to read as a family and personal to have a little competition. I know it shouldn't be one, but I remember in Seminary having a bit of competition was actually a motivation to read the Book of Mormon, and since we are all on different time schedules this was the best way we could make sure we are all doing it. I don't have a picture of that yet, because it is still in progress. However it is looking awesome! My next project on my list was to organize and clean and de-clutter our lives before the baby comes in 4 and a half weeks. So first I started with Lylia's room, and it looks amazing, however I don't have pictures because well it is a bi
t of a mess and needs clothes to be put away before I feel brave enough to post pictures. But I will do that probably tomorrow. Next was our room. With Justin in the midst of finals I have been having to wait for him to have time to help me, since I already went through my side of things, and now it is up to his stuff to make our room look better. We bought a shelf at Ikea to help with
storage issues. We aren't done, but this will give you an idea of what has been helping me life to feel more organized. I wish we didn't have so much stuff to be honest, but then I realize that the stuff we have is actually stuff we need, then realize we just don't have a huge place. So anyway I thought the zebra boxes were all black so I was surprised when I saw zebra print when I opened it up to put them together. Not exactly my style, but maybe it will give me more pizazz to act my age. lol.
Also on my project list is to organize our pantry, which as of right now has been in under bed compartments. Which is hard for a pregnant, broken rib sort of person, so we got a cupboard like we have had before, and I am excited for Justin to put that together hopefully tonight. So no pictures yet, but I promise as soon as I have things all spiffed up which will be this week, pictures will be coming.
My next project has been getting preschool set up! I will be starting next week! I am super excited about it because I found this blog of this woman who pretty much took all the guess work out of it, and for $10 I have a years worth of lessons and activities. I have some plans of my own as well, and think it will be good to get in a structure before the baby comes so that Lylia feels like she has her special time as well. Plus I really want her to continue to learn and grow like she was in daycare. Here is my preschool corner. Lylia doesn't know it yet, but this will be her favorite part of her day! Here is the link to the blog I found that saved my life! Seriously was considering doing one of those programs I can't even remember the name but it was go
ing to cost over $150 a year which is cheap in comparison with day care, but where we are living on less now, $10 was a better deal! http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/
So if you are thinking about doing preschool at home, and hate to think of your own ideas and just wish you didn't have to think and just teach and enjoy, this truly was the way to go! Love it! I will show you some of my projects with this next week when I start to do them with Lylia. It involves the weather, our address, things about the phone, cooking, cleaning, and the alphabet too of course. I am super stoked though! I still have to put the labels on the bins, but one is for science, one for math, one for art, one for reading, one for outdoor play, and I can't remember the last one. I have cute tags for the bins, and everything is going to be organized and wonderful! Will have my weekly stuff printed out on Sunday evening for the next week to sit in a binder for the next munchkins time! Pretty much it sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't going to be. Our first field trip next week will be to the grocery store to learn about apples. For the letter A. And we will pick out 4 different apples, bring them home, and taste them to show that there are lots of different varieties of apples. I know Lylia will love it.
My other projects gone wild are things for the baby. I need to make some wipes, because we are doing cloth diapers and cloth wipes to save money. And my big project that I am so excited about as well is my baby tent cover for her car seat. This one is going to be started this weekend I think. I found a pattern on this website that I love, and decided to scrap the idea of designing my own, and do this one with a little designing of my own. cottoncharms.com. It is called Promise Me. So I have been busy trying to make my life feel organized before I add a baby that I know will put things on the back burner again. I'll post pictures in a few days as I finish projects!

looks great! can't wait to see the rest of your after pictures. I am still working on organizing my closets (seems like they need redone every few months) and it sure does make you feel more prepared for stuff. great idea about the preschool at home. i was going to do that with maddy, but I just didn't stick with it. sounds like you are better prepared. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, you are killing me with all these "not quite done yet" posts. It's like your blog is a suspense novel, and I can't wait to see what happens next. :) Good for you for starting things! I'm usually able to talk myself out of actually doing anything long before I start. If I do manage to accomplish something, I pretty much have to do it all in one day, before my brain catches up and tells me it's too much work. Thanks for the inspiration... maybe someday I too will accomplish something. (Oh, and who knows why I am up at 2 in the morning. That's just how I roll these days.)
